Atrophy was simulated for sensitivity calculations as follows: The original cortical thickness map from each of the subjects from the control population (“0% atrophy”) was multiplied by values ranging between 0 and 1. Multiplication by lower values indicate higher degrees of simulated atrophy. For example, multiplication by 0.9 simulates 10% atrophy, multiplication by 0.8 20% atrophy, etc. In the present study, atrophy was simulated between 1% and 100% in steps of one percentage points.
