Influence of L. plantarum on microbial growth in biofilms. a With the exception of two donors, L. plantarum successfully eliminated the P. aeruginosa infection after 4 h of incubation. After 24 h, P. aeruginosa was finally destroyed in biofilms from all donors. b–d The pathogens S. aureus, S. epidermidis and E. faecium also displayed a slight growth inhibition.
