Serum levels of polymorphonuclear (PMN) elastase in patients with myositis. PMN elastase levels are elevated in patients with idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIMs) and dermatomyositis (DM), but not in those with polymyositis (PM) when compared with healthy controls (HCs) (a). Area under receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis was used to assess the ability of PMN elastase to distinguish among IIMs, DM, and HCs (b). The reference curve is also shown.
