TPLSM—autofluorescence of unseeded (above) and seeded (below) OptiMaix scaffolds. After 6 weeks, 2D still appears compact but is degrading and infiltrated by the adjacent bladder tissue. The 3D scaffold enhances the ingrowth of connective and muscle tissue due to its sponge-like structure. After 32 weeks, large pieces of both OptiMaix scaffold types are still detectable in the peripheral regions on the luminal side of the implantation sites. Scale bar = 100 µm
