Schematic diagram for S-180 and ascorbic acid challenge protocol. Group A: PBS treatment every two days. Group B: Low ascorbic acid treatment every two days. Group C: high dose concentration ascorbic acid treatment every two days. Group D: PBS treatment twice for 4 days and then 5 × 105 S-180 cells were injected intraperitoneally followed by PBS treatment every two days. Group E: PBS treatment and S-180 cells same as Group D, and then high dose concentration ascorbic acid every two days. Group F: low dose ascorbic acid twice for 4 days, S-180 cells same as Group D, and then high dose concentration ascorbic acid given twice. Group G: high dose concentration ascorbic acid twice for 4 days, S-180 cells same as Group D, and then high dose concentration ascorbic acid given twice. Liver samples of all groups were harvested at 16 days after the first treatment.
