Cells were isolated from healthy volunteers and the responses to plasma measured after 6 h of culture using whole genome Illumina Human HT-12 V4 BeadChips. Plasma samples were obtained from patients with culture-confirmed sepsis (n = 12, 29, and 35 in experiments I, II and III, respectively) and control subjects with no infection (n = 6, 20, and 20 in experiments I, II and III, respectively). In experiment I, three types of leukocyte populations were isolated from two healthy volunteers: PMNs, PBMCs and monocytes. In experiments II and III, only PMNs were used.Back to article page
