Sensitivity of primary tumor cultures to IL-13-PE treatment. (A) RT-PCR shows that IL-13Rα2 expression is high for the primary cultures but low in other tissues from Tgfbr1/Pten 2cKO mice undergoing tumor induction. (B) Primary cultures are sensitive to the cytotoxic effects of IL-13-PE, as measured by a decrease in protein synthesis. An IC₅₀ for IL-13-PE ranged between 45–100 ng/ml in the primary cultured tumor cells overexpressing IL-13Rα2.
