Serum levels of CEA and HMGB1 according to disease group. Figure 1A shows that the serum levels of CEA were not significantly different among disease groups except for the metastatic GC group (M group). The serum levels of CEA in M group (*) were significantly higher than those of the other groups (Fig 1A, ANOVA with Post HOC Scheffe, p < 0.01). Figure 1B showed that the serum levels of HMGB1 were significant different among all disease groups and tended to increase according to the progression of the gastric carcinogenesis (ANOVA with Post HOC Scheffe, p < 0.05). However, HMGB1 levels were not significantly different between the AGC group (*) and M group (†) (ANOVA with Post HOC Scheffe, p > 0.05).
