P. pentosaceus CECT 8330 increases the levels of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). Acetic acid, propionic acid, butyric acid, valeric acid, isobutyric acid, isovaleric acid, hexanoic acid, and ishexanoic acid of fecal samples from the Control, DSS and DSS + CECT 8330 groups were determined by using GC–MS. Significance was determined by ANOVA with Tukey’s analysis. *P < 0.05, **P < 0.01, ***P < 0.001
