The study was conducted as a double-blind randomized clinical trial, with the primary aim of investigating the effects of vitamin D3 supplementation on resistance training-associated adaptations in a mixed population of older subjects, including both COPD and healthy control subjects (COPD and Healthy, respectively) (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02598830). Vitamin D3 supplementation did not affect any primary or secondary outcome, and no conditional effects were observed for COPD vs Healthy in that context [22]. In the present study, the main purpose was to compare the effects of resistance training between COPD and Healthy participants (number of participants completing the study protocol; n COPD = 20; n Healthy = 58)
