Maternal and cord plasma free thyroxine (FT4) concentrations are positively associated with placental iodine concentration. Pearson correlation coefficients were 0.29 (p < 0.0001) and 0.23 (p < 0.0001) for maternal and cord FT4 respectively. Maternal FT4 concentrations ranged from 7.4 to 19.4 pmol/L, with a median of 11.9 pmol/L. Cord FT4 concentrations ranged from 12.1 to 23.7 pmol/L, with a median value of 16.3 pmol/L
