The full-length of CD109 protein comprises 1445 amino acid (aa), including a 21 aa N-terminal signal peptide, a putative bait region (aa 651–683), a thioester binding site (aa 918–924), a thioester reactivity defining hexapeptide (aa1030–1035) and a C-terminal consensus GPI-anchor signal sequence (aa 1420–1445) with the cleavage predicted to occur after amino acid 1420
