Schematic illustration of the development of artificial aortic isthmus stenosis. HYPI: group of cardiac hypertrophy. The implanted stent became ingrown in the aorta wall, and its constant size does not allow the normal growth (lateral and longitudinal) of the descending aorta at the site of the stenting. Note the pre- and post-stenotic dilation of the descending aorta adjacent to the stent, due to the turbulent flow
