Induction of apoptosis in glioblastoma cells after incubation in β-elemene for 24 h. a Glioblastoma cells were treated with β-elemene for 24 h. Flow cytometry was performed using an Annexin V/PI detection kit. Upon treatment with β-elemene, the proportions of apoptotic cells clearly increased in a dose-dependent manner. Viable cells are located in the lower left quadrant, cells in the early apoptosis stage are located in the lower right quadrant, cells in the late apoptosis stage or already dead are located in the top right quadrant and necrotic cells are located in the top left quadrant. b The results in (a) are illustrated graphically.
