From: VEGF111b, a C-terminal splice variant of VEGF-A and induced by mitomycin C, inhibits ovarian cancer growth

Fig. 2

VEGF111b overexpression inhibits proliferation of ovarian cancer cells in vitro. (a) SKOV3 and OVCAR3 cells were transfected with empty lentivirus and VEGF111b、VEGF165b lentivirus, respectively, and incubated for 48 h and 72 h, cell viability was measured by MTT assay and expressed as percentage in comparison with empty vector (*p < 0.05; ** p < 0.01; ***p < 0.001). (b) SKOV3 and OVCAR3 cells were transfected with empty lentivirus and VEGF111b、VEGF165b lentivirus, respectively, and incubated for 48 h, cell proliferation was measured by BrdU assay and expressed as percentage in comparison with empty vector (**p < 0.01; ***p < 0.001; ns, no significance). (c-d) SKOV3 and OVCAR3 cells were transfected and allowed to grow in complete medium for 2 weeks. The colonies were assessed. VEGF111b inhibited the colony formation of SKOV3 and OVCAR3 cells in comparison with empty vector (*p < 0.05; ** p < 0.01; ***p < 0.001). Error bars represent the SEM of data obtained in three independent experiments
