Cezanne and MMP-9 levels correlated in 230 HCC tissues. (a) Serial sections of human HCC tissue were subjected to IHC staining with antibodies against Cezanne and MMP-9. In case #1, high expression of Cezanne in HCC tissues was accompanied by the absence of MMP-9. In case #2, low expression of Cezanne was accompanied by elevated MMP-9. The scale bar represents 50 μm.
