Enforced expression of galectin-3 promoted HCC cell migration and metastatic capability. (A) Cell migration of HCC cells transfected with gal-siRNA and negative control was evaluated with transwell migration assays. HCC cells infected with gal-siRNA migrated less than cells infected with negative control. Representative images of migration cells are shown in the left panel and the results are summarized in the right panel. The results are expressed as three independent experiments (*P?<?0.05, independent Student’s t-test). (B) Transwell migration assay showing that galectin-3 promoted cell migration in Hep3B cells. (C) The migration ability of gal-siRNA and negative control-transfected HCC cells was determined by wound-healing assay. Wound-closure time (measured after 24 h) was slower in cells transfected with gal-siRNA than in those transfected with negative control.
