The effect of SNN on InsR, IRS1/2 and Akt expression in the liver. Male Wistar rats (6 weeks old) were placed on chow diet or HC diet for 8 weeks followed by the 4-week SNN intervention. Livers were collected, the mRNA expression of InsR and IRS1/2 was detected through PCR (A), and the protein expression of Total and phosphorylated InsR (Tyr1131), IRS1 (Ser302), Akt (Ser473) was analysed by Western blots (B). Data (mean ± SE) are presented as relative expression levels compared to that of control group. ** P < 0.01 relative to control group, ## P < 0.01 in comparison to HC group.
