Virus replication efficiency in cell cultures predicts antitumor efficacy and virulence in nude mice with tumor xenografts. Tumor-bearing mice (n = 6) were injected i.v. with each virus strain at a single dose of 5 × 106 pfu/mouse at 34 days after tumor cell implantation. Tumor volume (A) and mouse survival (B) were monitored for 84 days after virus administration. Statistical analysis of the survival data was performed using the log-rank test. * indicates P < 0.05, when compared with the GLV-1h68 group. All untreated mice were sacrificed 102 days after tumor cell implantation (equivalent to 68 days post treatment for the treated groups).
