Typical results of platelet activation and recruitment as studied in vitro by platelet aggregometry. Figures represent aggregation curves following addition of 10, 5, 2, and 1 μM ADP to A. PRP B PRP+106 CLL cells. An equal number of CLL cells was added to platelet poor plasma (PPP) in the latter test. Area under the curve was 250 units for 10 μM ADP, 165 for 5 μM, 152 for 2 μM, and 51 for 1 μM ADP in the control curve and 170, 119, 26, and 7 units respectively for samples in which CLL cells had been added, indicating a significant decrease in the degree of aggregation when these lymphocytes were added.
