Other blood biochemical indexes (fasting glucose, insulin and HOMA-IR index) of MS rats. Fasting plasma glucose (FPG) level was measured via the glucose oxidase method. Fasting plasma insulin (FPI) in rats was measured using a radioimmunoassay method. To quantify the insulin resistance index, the following formula was used: HOMA-IR = {(FPG*FPI)/22.5}. **P<0.01 compared to the control rats; ΔP<0.05 compared to the MS rats.
